I have a 1997 F-350 Dually w/ a 351 in it. It drinks fuel away (12 mpg hwy, 6 mpg hauling horse trailer loaded) It won't pull above 65 mph through the mountains you go up them at about 15- 20 mph. Ok on flat ground but drinks fuel... I have a steel 16 ft gooseneck trailer.
We were talking about Straight piping and glass packing it, doing spark plugs wires, any other ideas???

It has 85000 miles, automatic tranny, and 410 rears

I left you a post on the trailer side with some ideas.

Do not use glass packs, you will not beable to hear yourself think after a long drive.

Go with either a 2 1/2" or 3" exhaust system with some sort of turbo mufflers and no converters. Get on ebay and buy you a K&N intake system (not just a filter), plugs, wires, coil and a TRANSMISSION COOLER 1st!

The problem is the truck is heavy and the engine is small. Actually these truck get way better gas mileage with the 460 engine in them just because when towing you do not have to keep standing on it for it to go.
