Given that you've already GOT a good truck, trailer and horses,,, why tie yourself down with a ma{nevermind}

I'm going to buck the trend here;
Do NOT overspec the truck's tires, go with original equipment specs, they're ADEQUATE for the truck's capacity and there is a truck load of reasons to not exceed that.

I don't really care what how many plyes your tires have as long as they are at least a "D" rated tire at a minimum. I really suggest using an "E" rated tire for hauling on a SRW truck.

Here's where the advice gets interesting; I also don't care what brand of tire you buy either as long as it's from a reputable dealer that will be around for the life of the tires. Pick a dealer that is VERY strong on customer service..........since there is no man in your life and you let that cat out of the bag.

Don't buy tires until you really need them. I'd use the tires you have until they are worn out. It might also give you some clues as to what kind of tire you need to replace them with and whether the tire you have is adequate or if you need a heavier tire? The heavier the tire, the less fuel milage you will get because they are harder to roll. Small problem, but over a long period of time, it can and will make a difference.

F.Y.I.- I use a "D" rated tire on a couple of my trucks and they work just fine. One of my trucks has "E" rated tires on it and they came on the truck when it was new. When they wear out, I'll probably replace them with an equilevant tire.

Happy trails.

I run the michelin At tires E rated I have 73,000 on this set and am replaceing them on next thursday with the same tire. I have been very plased as most of the milage was towing. Just rotate them often.

If this is a new truck why would you need to buy new tires ? Not sure about Chevy but Ford puts tires on the truck rated to what the truck is supposed to haul.My new truck will get new tires when these are worn out.I can't see spending money on tires if I don't have to.They should be rated at "E" since ply rating don't mean much anymore.Also unless you are driving in mud or some other crappy stuff the stock tires should be just fine.

New to me.. but purchased as used. it only had 26000 miles on it.. The back tires looked a bit worn and the spare was trashed... the front tires still had good tread so I will put one of those on as the spare...

With all the trash in the streets down here in my area due to the rebuilding.. I wanted to try to avoid all the flats... Since I haul alone.. I don't want to have to change tires on the way to a run just because I chose to gamble with questionable tires.

Thanks for the input... everyone...
