I've heard rumors that Toyota and Nissan have been talking to them about motors for the new HD rivalries. As of now from what i know though - they're just rumors.
I'm curious to know what Mr. Knows though!

No, not yet. Cat just made a deal to put C7 in Workhorse chassis for class A motor homes. Cat is pushing their new auto tranny in RV's too. GM announced a diesel in 1/2 ton trucks in 2009, Ford, Dodge, Nissan and Toyota should all have them by 2010. You can get Cats in Ford F650, Freightliner M2 Business class, but they are class 6 trucks. A one ton is class 3. Ford looked into using Cat back in the Seventies before they went with Navistar (International) But Cat is just too expensive, and they are use to making 100,000 engines. To be in the pickup truck market, they need to make 300,000 engines.
Anything is possible. I'll be in Texas next month driving the new 2008 Ford Super Duties with the new 6.4L Navistar diesel. Ford is married to International. They make the F650 and F750 together. The old 7.3L Navistar's in Ford Super Duty is now selling at it's peak in Australia. In South America, Ford F250's have Perkins diesels. Nissan talked to International about using the 4.5L V-6 baby Power Stroke in the Titan. Nothing has been announced.
There is a rumor going around that Cat didn't meet the new 2007 Ultra low sulfur emission standards, which isn't true. They have been certified and will be in many RV's under the new guidelines and semi-trucks. I thought Toyota would have a new pickup truck diesel by now, it will be here in 2009 or 10. The new Crew Max Toyota full size truck will be here in February.
